About Us

The Slab Lab is an artisan shop, not a factory.

Nearly all facets of our process involve small tools rather than giant machines.

We usually only work on a handful of projects at a time.

We look forward to your creativity.

"I never expected concrete to be the medium I would use as a form of expression. My background had been in music, music production, video, and graphic design. Just a few years ago, concrete as an art form was as far from my conscious mind as was possible. I happened upon concrete countertops purely by accident, but once the interest had sparked, there was no turning back. The versatility, beauty, and longevity of concrete drew me in.

"Like music or visual arts, custom concrete work starts with an idea or vision... sometimes vague, other times very specific. Following the vision to its completion requires a delicate balance between control of and respect for the medium. Each step of the creation process is reactive to the results of the previous step. And just as two performances or two paintings can never be absolutely identical, each concrete object has its own nuances and qualities that can never be replicated."
